A player conversing with character named Clint in Stardew Valley.
He’s both a loved and hated character in Stardew Valley.

He’s the town’s blacksmith. Upon seeing him for the first time, he may look like a middle-aged guy. Unfortunately, he hasn’t built a family for himself, but he’s interested in Emily. If you want to befriend him, don’t forget his birthday on Winter 26 and offer him any of the following items:

  • Amethyst
  • Aquamarine
  • Artichoke Dip
  • Emerald
  • Fiddlehead Risotto
  • Gold Bar
  • Iridium Bar
  • Jade
  • Omni Geode

A player having a conversation with Demetrius in Stardew Valley.
He can be a difficult bone to pick, watch him argue with Robin occasionally.

He’s the scientist in Stardew Valley. You’ll usually find him in his laboratory doing experiments or outdoors as he observes the environment. In terms of familial relationships, he’s Robin’s husband, Maru, and Sebastian’s father– he’s Sebastian’s stepdad, to be exact. While you may also offer these items on Summer 19, his birthday, to earn more Friendship Hearts.

  • Bean Hotpot
  • Rice Pudding
  • Ice Cream
  • Strawberry

A player having a conversation with Dwarf in Stardew Valley.
Better understand it first before you offer anything.

It’s a non-human character, but you may also create a good relationship with it. We address this character as “it” since there’s no classification regarding its gender. You’ll find the Dwarf in the Mines after you remove the boulder by using a steel pickaxe, cherry bomb, or any type of explosive.

Moreover, don’t forget its birthday is on Summer 22. Giving this villager the following loots can help deepen your bond.

  • Amethyst
  • Aquamarine
  • Emerald
  • Jade
  • Lemon Stone
  • Omni Geode
  • Ruby
  • Topaz

A player having a conversation with Evelyn in Stardew Valley.
Our sweet ol’ granny.

Evelyn’s a sweet old lady who’s related to George and Alex. She usually spends her time in the kitchen or garden at 1 River Road in Pelican Town. Aside from being sweet, you’ll also notice how vibrant her personality is because of her optimistic character.

Do you want to befriend the town’s nice granny? Well, better not forget her special day on Winter 20 and offer her any of the listed items below:

  • Beet
  • Chocolate Cake
  • Diamond
  • Fairy Rose
  • Stuffing
  • Tulip

A player having a conversation with George in Stardew Valley.
His temper is insufferable, but at some point, we do understand.

He’s another old lad in Pelican Town, Evelyn’s husband, and Alex’s grandfather. Unlike his wife, he has a grumpy and somewhat rude personality. Nonetheless, most NPCs understand where he’s coming from since aging can be a tough reality for most people.

Anyway, you can give him the list of items below if you want to unlock his heart events. Don’t forget his birthday too; it’s every Fall 24.

  • Fried Mushroom
  • Leek

A player having a conversation with Gus in Stardew Valley.
He’s that good guy who’ll give you good meals.

The town’s entrepreneur, bartender, chef, and owner of the Stardrop Saloon. There’s not much to tell about him aside from him since he doesn’t really talk about his personal life. But what we know about him is he knows the business to its roots!

Offer him the following gifts on the 8th of Summer, and perhaps you can squeeze out more information about him.

  • Diamond
  • Escargot
  • Fish Taco
  • Orange
  • Tropical Curry

A player having a conversation with Jas in Stardew Valley.
This little girl is going to places with her wits.

Jas is one of the youngest residents in town, and she lives with Marnie and Shane on the ranch. You might be wondering who her parents are; unfortunately, they weren’t introduced in the game, but Jas will randomly mention that they’ve already passed.

She doesn’t have a lot of heart events, but you may still offer her gifts to discover more about her. Save the Summer 4 on your calendar because that’s her birthday!

  • Fairy Rose
  • Pink Cake
  • Plum Pudding

A player having a conversation with Jodi in Stardew Valley.
Everyone wants a mom like Jodi.

She’s Vincent and Sam’s loving mother and the wife of Kent. You’ll see in her dialogues how much she cares about her family despite feeling like her youth was robbed for getting married early.

Are you intrigued by her hobbies and other things about her? Well, you can give her these gifts that she loves anytime– but preferably on Fall 11, her birthday!

  • Chocolate Cake
  • Crispy Bass
  • Rhubarb Pie
  • Diamond
  • Eggplant Parmesan
  • Fried Eel
  • Pancakes
  • Vegetable Medley

A player having a conversation with Kent in Stardew Valley.
He can be a lil stiff, but you know his story.

He’s a new character you’ll meet in Spring, Year 2. He’s Jodi’s husband, Sam, and Vincent’s father. A brief background about him was he served in the army in your first year in town. Since he fought in the war, you’ll notice how traumatized he was based on his dialogues.

If you want to find out more about him, you’d need to note his birthday on Spring 4 and offer him any of the following:

  • Fiddlehead Risotto.
  • Roasted Hazelnuts.

A player having a conversation with Krobus in Stardew Valley.
Looking for a roommate? Invite him over to your farmhouse.

He’s another “non-human” character in-game. You’ll find him in the Sewers once you obtain the rusty key. You can also invite him to be your roommate by offering a Void Pendant. The most interesting part about this friendly monster is that he only has two Heart Events.

Are you curious about what these events offer? You better mark Winter 1 on your calendar because this date is his birthday! He’s pretty picky with gifts, so you better check this list before offering him anything he may dislike or hate:

  • Diamond
  • Iridium Bar
  • Pumpkin
  • Void Egg
  • Void Mayonnaise
  • Wild Horseradish

A player having a conversation with Leo in Stardew Valley.
His story is tearjerking, alright.

He’s another odd character in Stardew Valley, but this time he’s a human who communicates with parrots. You’ll first find him on Ginger Island living in his hut. However, once you earn more than six hearts with him, you can convince him to live in Pelican Town.

Moreover, he’ll be good friends with Jas, Vincent, and Linus as he lives in a treehouse made by his feathery friends. What do you think happened to him? Your questions will remain unsolved unless you earn enough hearts with him. You better remember Summer 28 as his special day!

  • Duck Feather
  • Mango
  • Ostrich Egg
  • Poi

A player talking to Mayor Lewis in Stardew Valley.
Is he really the nice mayor we know?

Lewis is the town’s beloved mayor. You may find him in his manor living a somewhat shady life. You’ve read that right. Perhaps the mayor isn’t as nice as we all thought. How did we come up with this conclusion? That’s a secret for you to find out.

Anyhow, we know that he’d been the town’s mayor for ages, and no one had ever tried to steal his spot. Now, isn’t that interesting? His birthday is on Spring 7, and you may offer him the listed goods if you want to unveil the shady parts of his story.

  • Autumn’s Bounty
  • Glazed Yams
  • Green Tea
  • Hot Pepper
  • Vegetable Medley

This guy has a heart of gold.

Linus lives in a tent in the Mountains. He claims that he adores the life he’s living and appreciates the fact that he’s one with nature. Additionally, he doesn’t seem to have any familial relationships but he does have friends; mainly the Wizard and Leo.

If you want to be good friends with him, you might want to remember his birthday on Winter 3. Offering the listed items would also be excellent.

  • Blueberry Tart
  • Cactus Fruit
  • Coconut
  • Dish O’ the Sea
  • Yam

A player having a conversation with Marnie in Stardew Valley.
This aunt is the sweetest.

She’s the rancher who can help in providing supplies for your farm animals. Her character depicts a sweet aunt you can always visit when things get rough. What’s sad is her relationship with Lewis; what’s the tea here? We won’t spoil you on this part, and it’s for you to find out!

You may gift her any of these goods, also note that her birthday’s on Fall 18:

  • Diamond
  • Farmer’s Lunch
  • Pink Cake
  • Pumpkin Pie

A player having a conversation with Pam in Stardew Valley.
She’s pretty cool to us.

This character here is a cool yet problematic middle-aged woman. She’s the town’s bus driver, but you’ll find her in the Saloon if you haven’t fixed the bus. As her hobby suggests, she has an undying love for alcoholic artisan goods.

Additionally, if she’s not in the bar, she’s in their small Trailer with her daughter, Penny, which serves as their home. It’s best to prepare her favorites on Spring 18 since it’s her special day!

  • Beer
  • Cactus Fruit
  • Glazed Yams
  • Mead
  • Pale Ale
  • Parsnip Soup
  • Pina Colada

A player having a conversation with Pierre in Stardew Valley.
He can be a little boring.

This guy owns the General Store. He’s an actual “workaholic” who’s pretty much engulfed with business things. Is he boring? Quite so. He doesn’t have a lot of close relationships aside from her wife, Caroline, and Abigail, his daughter.

Similarly to his wife, some sketchy cut-scenes will make you think– what is he hiding? Earning friendship hearts is your go-to in finding out more about his secret. You should remember his day on Spring 26.

  • Fried Calamari

A player having a conversation with Robin in Stardew Valley.
She’s a hardworking and creative character.

She’s the carpenter who lives in the mountains in Pelican Town. As mentioned, she’s related to Demetrius, Maru, and Sebastian. Robin, unlike other characters, lives a peaceful and simple life. There’s a bit of family drama, but nothing that can pique your interest.

Anyhow, here are the things you can offer her anytime or on Fall 21 if you want to get to know her better:

  • Goat Cheese
  • Peach
  • Spaghetti

A player having a conversation with SAndy in Stardew Valley.
Another character who’ll make you feel the Valley’s mystery.

She calls herself “Sandy,” although that’s not her real name. She claims that it was just for business. You won’t find her in Pelican Town, but you can meet her once you visit the Calico Desert. Sandy has a shop called the “Oasis,” which sells various goods.

Moreover, you can only unlock a single Heart Event with her, specifically the 7-Hearts Event. What does this event offer you? You’ll need to make a great bond with her first– Fall 18, remember that date, okay?

  • Crocus
  • Daffodil
  • Mango Sticky Rice
  • Sweet Pea

A player having a conversation with Vincent in Stardew Valley.
He’s not the brightest, but he’s a cute kid.

He’s the young boy who’s good friends with Jas and Leo. And as we’ve said earlier, he is related to Kent, Jodi, and Sam. He studies with his friends in the library with Penny as their teacher. Moreover, he only has one heart event– what do you think it is?

Give him something he likes on Spring 10 to earn more points and learn more about this event. Below are the things he’ll love to receive:

  • Cranberry Candy
  • Ginger Ale
  • Grape
  • Pink Cake
  • Snail

A player having a conversation with Willy in Stardew Valley.
His generosity is interesting.

Willy’s the Valley’s fisherman who owns the Fish Shop. He’s a cool dude who has the typical fisherman accent. You’ll find him by the beach in his shop, while you’ll frequently find him fishing in different spots in-game.

Additionally, he can also help you reach Ginger Island. It’s a new map added in the latest update of the game. But if you want to learn more about his personal life, take note of his birthday on Summer 24, and offer any of the following:

  • Catfish
  • Diamond
  • Iridium Bar
  • Mead
  • Octopus
  • Pumpkin
  • Sea Cucumber
  • Sturgeon

A player having a conversation with Wizard in Stardew Valley.
He’s a very mysterious character.

M. Rasmodius, a.k.a the Wizard, he’s an interesting being who can manipulate magic. You’ll 6meet him once you encounter the Rat Problem in the Community Center. But finding him is quite easy since he lives in the tower in Cindersap Forest.

Unlike most adult villagers, you can only unlock one heart event with him. It’s a special occasion that’ll allow you to– we won’t share it yet. Remember his birthday every Winter 17 in Stardew Valley and offer any of the gifts below:

  • Purple Mushroom
  • Solar Essence
  • Super Cucumber
  • Void Essence

Marriageable Candidates

After meeting the non-marriageable villagers, you’ll also need to know about every bachelor and bachelorette. They play a huge role in your gameplay, especially if you plan to get married and receive extra help on your farm.

A player talking to Abigail in Stardew Valley.
Well, she’s unique alright.

She’s well-known for having a unique sense of fashion and hobbies. You’ll find her living with her parents in the General Store. She’s also considered the most popular bachelorette in-game, perhaps it’s because of her pretty looks or odd hobby of eating crystals.

Moreover, she’s also good friends with Sam and Sebastian as they all play in a band. There’s a lot more to unveil about her, and if you want to be good friends with her– don’t forget her birthday on Fall 13. Refer to the list below to know the items she loves the most:

  • Amethyst
  • Banana Pudding
  • Blackberry Cobbler
  • Chocolate Cake
  • Pufferfish
  • Pumpkin
  • Spicy Eel

A simple character with interesting talents.

Emily’s another odd bachelorette in Stardew Valley. She lives at 2 Willow Lane with her sister Haley. She also works part-time in Gus’ Saloon and has a hobby of making clothes. If you plan to marry her or deepen your friendship with her, you may offer these items preferably on Spring 27:

  • Aquamarine
  • Cloth
  • Emerald
  • Jade
  • Ruby
  • Survival Burger
  • Topaz
  • Wool

A player having a conversation with Haley in Stardew Valley.
She’s quite annoying sometimes.

Haley’s the total opposite of Emily. She’s the queen-bee type of girl, a little conceited and selfish. You won’t really like her personality during your first meetings in town, but once you become great friends you’ll realize she’s not that bad– we think.

Anyhow, what do you think is the best gift for her? She might sulk over you forgetting her birthday, remember it’s on Spring 14!

  • Coconut
  • Fruit Salad
  • Pink Cake
  • Sunflower

A player having a conversation with Leah in Stardew Valley.
You’ll love her aspirations!

Leah’s an artistic and adventurous likable character. You’ll love how simple the life she’s leading, and her ambitions that can amaze and inspire you. Her only close friend in town is Elliott, and they’re quite similar backgrounds.

Anyway, you can visit her in her cottage near Marnie’s home if you want to visit her. What do you think is her story? Well then prepare your gift on Winter 23 to earn more points with her. Below are the best goods you can give her in Stardew Valley.

  • Goat Cheese

  • Miner’s Treat

  • Radioactive Bar
  • Rhubarb Pie
  • Strawberry

A player having a conversation with Penny in Stardew Valley.
She’s that “wife” material character in Stardew Valley.

Penny’s the kids’ teacher in Stardew Valley. This character values education a lot which gives her the urge to teach these children. She’s also a family-oriented NPC who imagines herself having a family of her own. You may find her with her mom in their small Trailer close to Alex’s house.

Since she’s the most wife-material, befriending and deepening your friendship with her should be easy. If you’re truly interested in this character, don’t forget Fall 2 is her birthday.

  • Diamond
  • Emerald
  • Melon
  • Poppy
  • Poppyseed Muffin
  • Red Plate
  • Roots Platter
  • Sandfish
  • Tom Kha Soup

A player having a conversation with Alex in Stardew Valley.
It’s obvious why he and Haley gets along well.

He’s the typical jock who can be a little arrogant. But behind this facade, he also has a heartbreaking story to tell. Aren’t you wondering why he lives with his grandparents? Sadly, it’s another story to tell that you’ll need to find out.

Anyway, Alex dreams of being a professional gridball player. You’ll find him working out in their backyard and most of his dialogues talk about his aspirations. What would a jock like him want for his birthday on Summer 13?

  • Complete Breakfast
  • Salmon Dinner

A dialogue with Elliott in Stardew Valley.
His flowery words can make your heart thump.

Elliott is an aspiring author living by the beach in his small cabin. You’ll occasionally find him spending time in the Saloon or by the Beach. He left his hometown to find inspiration as he writes his novel. Would he succeed?

If you want to be a part of his journey, you may offer any of these items on his birthday, Fall 5.

  • Crab Cakes
  • Duck Feather
  • Lobster
  • Pomegranate
  • Squid Ink
  • Tom Kha Soup

Harvey is happy you're there to see him
He’s the most caring guy in town!

Harvey’s the town’s doctor. He performs annual checkups for all villagers in Pelican Town. You’ll find him in his clinic, and he’s also a total health freak. Well, we understand where he’s coming from since he’s a health professional.

If you want someone who can take good care of you, why don’t you give him something for his special day on Winter 14?

  • Coffee
  • Pickles
  • Super Meal
  • Truffle Oil
  • Wine

A player talking to Sam in Stardew Valley.
A total happy-go-lucky character.

Sam’s a musician who also loves to skate. His character shows a very fun and outgoing dude who’s enjoyable to hang out with. But despite this positive personality, he may sometimes be too impulsive.

If you want to join his adventures as he reaches his dreams, well giving him something he loves will do the trick. The best date to give it is on Summer 17 in Stardew Valley.

  • Cactus Fruit.
  • Maple Bar
  • Pizza
  • Tigerseye

A player having a conversation with Sebastian in Stardew Valley.
He can be a little aloof.

Sebastian’s a character who works as a freelance programmer. He lives in his parent’s basement and enjoys hobbies such as reading comics and playing computer games. You’ll notice in his dialogues that he’s quite distant from most people, even his family.

Nonetheless, he’s still good friends with other candidates like Sam and Abigail. If you try talking to him, he’ll wish to leave town and live in Zuzu City. Assuming you’re interested in him, can you stop him from leaving? Similarly to other characters, you can befriend him by giving him something he adores. Note that his birthday’s on Winter 10.

  • Frozen Tear
  • Obsidian
  • Pumpkin Soup
  • Sashimi
  • Void Egg

A player having a conversation with Shane in Stardew Valley.
Well, you won’t like him in the beginning; that’s for sure.

Shane’s a part-time worker at JojaMart. He usually indulges himself with alcohol since he’s suffering from depression. You’ll see in most of his dialogues that he finds his life pointless and wishes to just vanish.

Additionally, you may find him at Marnie’s Ranch if you want to help him get through the tough issues he’s going through. He doesn’t like many things, but below are the items you can offer him on his birthday in Spring 20.

Non-Giftable NPCs

A player having a conversation with Birdie in Stardew Valley.
She seems like a nice old lady.

She’s the character you’ll meet in Ginger Island while completing the Pirate’s Wife quest. You’ll find her in a small hut by the river. It’s possible to talk to her, but you can’t give her anything or enter her home.

A player interacting with the Casino's bouncer in Stardew Valley.
A man of few words.

The Bouncer is a strict guy who guards the entrance of the Casino that’s found at the back of the Oasis in Calico Desert. You may only enter this place once you obtain the club card from Mysterious Qi’s Quest. Forcing access in this area results in him giving strict dialogues.

A player having a conversation with Gil in Stardew Valley.
Quite snobbish.

Gil lives in the Adventurer’s Guild. He may give you hats, rings, and important items once you complete the Monster Eradication Goal. You may also interact with him, but you won’t get to give him anything he likes.

A player conversing with the Governor.
He’s quite similar to Lewis.

The Governor’s actual whereabouts are unknown to players, but you’ll meet him as a guest at the Luau Festival. He’s good friends with Mayor Lewis, and you’ll also find his image as a reference for the Lobster Bisque recipe. While you may find his photo too in the theater’s lobby.

A player conversing with grandpa in Stardew Valley.
Don’t you miss grandpa?

Grandpa is your actual “grandfather” in Stardew Valley. You’ll meet him again after three in-game years as he evaluates your success. Don’t worry. He won’t be in your home with rotting skin and flesh; he’ll just visit you in your dream since he lives in the afterlife.

A player conversing with gunther in Stardew Valley
Well, he’s collector– that’s all we know.

Gunther’s the operator of the Museum in Stardew Valley. He lives in the establishment, and you’ll find him there during its opening hours. Moreover, despite being a non-giftable NPC, you may still see him participating in the Special Order’s Board Quests by giving out tasks.

A player interacting with the Henchman in Stardew Valley.
Quite easy to deceive him you know what he likes.

The Henchman is the goblin you’ll encounter in the Goblin Problem in Stardew Valley. You’ll need to know his special item first before successfully accessing the Witch’s Hut.

What’s this item? It’s the Void Mayonnaise! You can give it to him so he’d freely let you enter the pavement.

A player buying something from Marlon in Stardew Valley.
A brave guy who can help you.

Marlon’s another character from the Adventurer’s Guild. You’ll find him in the Mountains with Gil, and he will buy all the monster loots you gather from the dangerous parts of the valley. He’s also the first person you’ll meet upon entering the Mines.

A player interacting with Morris in Stardew Valley.
We can all agree that he’s greedy.

Morris is JojaMart’s manager, and he also plays the customer service representative role. You can’t improve your friendship with him, but he would be delighted if you accepted his offers that’ll cost you a fortune.

Additionally, the warehouse will replace the Community Center by purchasing the JojaMart membership, which costs 5,000g. But if you refuse this offer, their business goes bankrupt, and he’ll leave Pelican Town.

Professor Snail

A player talking to Professor Snail in Stardew Valley.
He survived in a cave for some time, can you believe that?

Professor Snail is an old guy you’ll meet in Ginger Island. But before knowing him, you’ll need to pay the Parrots ten pieces of Golden Walnuts so they can blow up the boulder blocking the cave.

Moreover, you’ll find him in the Island Field Office after freeing him. He’ll accept your donations of fossils you’ll see and other relics. In return for your service, he’ll pay you Golden Walnuts.
