Did the town’s local doctor catch your eye? His name is Harvey; he runs and operates Pelican Town’s medical clinic and overlooks the villagers’ health. Keep reading this guide, and we’ll tell you his schedule, favorite gifts, and more!
Harvey is one of Stardew Valley’s 12 eligible bachelors who may appear plain at first, but he’s an interesting guy once you get to know him better. If you decide to pursue him, you’re in for a mature and romantic ride. Fortunately for you, it’s easy to get along with him.
If you’re interested in befriending or marrying this cute doctor, we’ll help you learn more about his daily timetable, preferred gifts, and more!
Who is Harvey?
Harvey is the local doctor of Pelican town who lives inside a small apartment above his clinic. He’s a kind-hearted physician who gives the residents their annual and quarterly check-ups. Since he’s the only doctor in town, he spends most of his time working.
Your conversations with him show his love for health and wellness. He’s also passionate about his work, but you can tell that he’s a bit unhappy. Moreover, if you manage to reach one of his heart events, you’ll discover his childhood dream of becoming a pilot.
Harvey is one of the oldest eligible bachelors in Stardew Valley as confirmed in one of the secret notes in the game. His age won’t matter as much because once you’re in a relationship he’s a romantic and caring partner. Once you’re married, you’ll learn that he loves jazz and even listens to it when working on his medical reports.
Harvey claims he loves coffee but only drinks Triple Shot Espresso. Additionally, in terms of his diet, if you check his fridge, you’ll see that he eats a lot of convenient microwaved dishes. This is ironic since he likes to tell other people to eat well-balanced meals.
Friendships and Relationships
Harvey doesn’t have any family or many friends in town. He spends a lot of time in his clinic working with his nurse, Maru. Although they’re not romantically involved, in one of his dialogues at the Luau, it appears he has a crush on her.
If you don’t dance with Harvey at the Flower Dance, you’ll witness him dancing with Maru instead. They’ll continue to work together at the clinic as friends and coworkers. Moreover, the fact that both NPCs are marriageable candidates ensures that their relationship won’t develop beyond that point.
Schedule
Harvey’s schedule is easy to remember considering he primarily works in the clinic, walks around town, and hangs out in the Saloon. Regardless of any season or changes in his relationship status, his routine stays mostly the same.

Heart events
Once you’ve collected a certain number of hearts, you can trigger Harvey’s heart events in Stardew Valley. To accomplish this, you must earn Friendship points to participate in the following cutscenes. Here’s a table containing the amount of Hearts you need for each cutscene:
No. Of Hearts | Events |
2 | You can find Harvey performing a check-up if you enter George’s house. You’ll hear the old villager complain about his doctor’s recommendation to change his lifestyle and argue that he knows what’s best for his body. He explains that he studied for eight years to handle patients like him. He’ll stop midway when he realizes your presence and says you shouldn’t be there because it’s a private check-up session. However, George will keep you from leaving and asks for your opinion in their discussion earlier. You can choose from two of these responses: ‘Tell him that he should follow his doctor’s advice (+40 points) Tell him that the patient knows what’s best for his body and wellbeing (-40 points) Regardless of your response, he’ll begrudgingly follow his doctor’s orders. If you choose the first response, George gives up and decides to follow his doctor after hearing Harvey insist that he’s only trying to help. Harvey will then thank you for helping him and that he appreciates you. If you select the second option, Harvey will threaten to tell George’s wife about his stubbornness if he doesn’t cooperate. As a result, he’ll sigh and oblige. After this, Harvey tells you not to give mixed messages to patients. |
4 | When you enter his clinic, he’ll tell you he was planning to write you a letter for your annual check-up. While examining you, he notices that your pulse is high. You have three options on how to reply to this: Tell him that you’re feeling a little obvious (+20 points.) Tell him you’re out of breath from working on your farm (+20 points.) Ask him if he’s a doctor because your pulse is fine (-50 points.) Regardless of which of the options you choose, he’ll respond the same way. He’ll announce that everything looks okay and that you’re healthy. Adding that you shouldn’t work too much and remember to take care of yourself. |
6 | You’ll trigger Harvey’s six heart event if you walk in Pierre’s General Store between 11 am and 3 pm. You’ll see a couple of women and, surprisingly, Harvey attending a dance aerobics class. As the aerobics class is about to end, he’ll walk out of the class but bumps into you on the way. He’ll feel uncomfortable that you were watching him earlier. He explains that his age and the stress from working in the clinic make it harder for him to stay fit made him sign up. He also says he must not be in excellent physical condition since he has difficulty keeping up with the group. You can select between these two responses when he asks you to keep this a secret: Tell him you won’t tell any of the villagers (+20 points.) Tell him that you can’t promise that (-50 points.) Depending on what you choose, he’ll reply to you differently. If you choose the first one, he’ll thank you and say he appreciates what you’re doing for him. On the other hand, if you select the second option, he’ll sigh and say you’re rude. |
8 | Upon entering Harvey’s clinic, go to his room, and you’ll witness him trying to contact a pilot with a piece of equipment. His heart starts to race as he unexpectedly receives a response, but he manages to give his coordinates before swiftly signing off. You have two choices on how to respond as soon as you enter the room: Ask him why he looks flustered (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) Act normal as if you saw nothing (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) He’ll excitedly tell you that he made contact with a real pilot as soon as he sees you. He urges you to join him at the window to watch the pilot fly overhead. After this, he’ll start talking about his childhood dream of becoming a pilot. Moreover, he adds that when he was a kid, he had a severe fear of heights and poor eyesight preventing him from becoming a pilot. He’ll tell you not to feel bad about it and that not everybody can fulfil their dreams. He’ll offer you to check out his model planes to lighten the mood since he just finished building the TR-Starbird deluxe set. |
10 | After obtaining ten hearts with Harvey, he’ll send you a letter to meet him at the Railroad tracks between 9 am and 5 pm. He tells you he’s grateful you came and that something should happen soon. Additionally, a man in a hot air balloon named Marcello flies over and says, you can use the balloon for two hours. Harvey explains he spotted the newspaper advertisement for Hot Air Balloon rental and thought it would be a nice activity. You can either jump in immediately or inquire why he did this, given his fear of heights. He nervously replies that despite his fear, he admires you and your bravery and believes it’s enough for the both of you. When you’re both in the balloon, Harvey will switch on the burner below and freaks out at how fast it’s rising. While you’re both high up in the sky, his emotions alternate between dread and joy until he realizes you’re with him. He’s now amazed by the view underneath and is happy you both are doing this. You and Harvey lean in for a kiss just before the two-hour rental ends. After that, you deliver the Hot Air Balloon back to Marcello at least 30 minutes past the rental time. This act marks the end of your romantic cutscene. |
Group 10 Heart Event | You must increase your friendship with each bachelor to ten hearts and see their heart events. Then you must give each of them a bouquet to trigger a cutscene in the Stardrop Saloon. Remember that if you finish Alex’s Ten-heart event last, this Group Heart Event can’t be avoided and will happen immediately. A friendly game of pool in Saloon will occur in the cutscene if you have a Rabbit’s foot in your inventory. However, if you don’t have this item, all of the bachelors will get angry at you for dating them all at the same time. After this, they’ll all angrily respond to your dialogues and reject gifts. After giving you the “cold shoulder” for a week, they’ll forgive you for what you’ve done. Note that this event won’t happen if you’re married or given a wilted bouquet or Mermaid’s Pendant to any of the Bachelors. This cutscene is also only triggered only one time per saved file. |
14 | If you get inside the twice-upgraded farmhouse between 8 pm and 12 am. You’ll see Harvey cooking dinner and fixing up the dining table. He’ll welcome you and inform you that he made Angel hair pasta with clams. While eating, Harvey will ask you what you think about the dish and what you did today. At the end of your meal, he’ll offer to wash the dishes and happily do it for you. This scene marks the end of the final heart event. |
Marriage
Once married, Harvey will live with you in the farmhouse and create a space he’ll use for reading in his spare time. He’ll add a room to your bedroom’s right and a small garden behind your home. Furthermore, he’ll resume going to town on Tuesdays and Thursdays to continue his work at his clinic.
When Harvey stays in the farmhouse the whole day, he’ll cook different dishes for you. In the morning, he’ll make you a Complete Breakfast. On the other hand, in the nighttime, he’ll serve you a Salmon Dinner, Crispy Bass, Fried Eel, Car Surprise, or Vegetable Medley for dinner.
Quests
Harvey randomly posts a request for an item on the “Help Wanted Board” in front of Pierre’s General Store. After successfully delivering his order, you’ll receive 150 Friendship points and gold. You’ll earn a gold reward three times the item’s base price.
