What Is The Community Center?
The Pelican Town Community Center is a building located north of Pierre’s General Store. You’ll see it on the first sunny day from Spring 5th onwards if you enter Pelican Town from the Bus Stop between 08:00 AM and 01:00 PM.
Mayor Lewis will greet you and give you a small tour. This used to be a place of gathering but has since been unused and it has fallen into a bad state. He laments this before leaving.
Wouldn’t it be great to spruce this place up? In Stardew Valley, that’s definitely something worth doing! After the cut-scene ends, you’ll gain the “Rat Problem” quest which will eventually lead to you meeting the Wizard and unlocking the ability to complete bundles. Once you’ve completed all of the bundles, you’ll have restored the Community Center to its former glory.
There are six bundles you’ll need to complete:
- The Pantry Bundles
- The Crafts Room Bundles
- The Fish Tank Bundles
- The Boiler Room Bundles
- The Bulletin Board Bundles
- The Vault Bundles
What is the Fish Tank?
This guide will focus on the items that are needed for the Fish Tank in the Community Center. As the name implies, these bundles revolve solely around fish. You’ll need to catch a wide variety of fish – some that are fresh and some saltwater, some that are local, and some exotic. In this guide, we’ll list every fish you need by Season so that you can complete the bundle before the end of Year One without the fear that you’ve forgotten something!
The Fish Tank includes six bundles in total, and they are:
- The River Fish Bundle
- The Lake Fish Bundle
- The Ocean Fish Bundle
- The Night Fishing Bundle
- The Crab Pot Bundle
- The Specialty Fish Bundle
In addition to getting closer to restoring the Community Center to perfection, completing the Fish Tank will grant you extra rewards. Namely, you’ll receive the following rewards:
- 30 Pieces of Bait
- One Dressed Spinner
- Five Warp Totem: Beach
- One Small Gold Ring
- Three Crab Pots
- Five Dish O’ The Sea
Completing all six of the Fish Tank bundles will also cause the Glitter Boulder to be removed from the area near the mine’s entrance in the Mountain. This will give you access to panning, a new mechanic that allows you to sift through water with a Copper Pan and find Coal, Ore, gems, and more!

How To Complete In One Year
Most of these fish can easily be caught during your first year in Stardew Valley as long as you follow our guide from top to bottom. However, there are two tricky and hard to find fish that will require some effort on your part. They are the following:
- Sandfish
- Woodskip
Both of these fish are necessary to complete the Specialty Fish Bundle, and special they are indeed. As noted above, you can catch these fish during any Season. It’s their location that’s the problem. To catch the Sandfish, you must first have accessed the Calico Desert. To unlock the Secret Woods, where the Woodskip swims, you’l need to have a Steel Axe or better at your disposal.
Both of these might sound like complicated problems, but the answer to these issues is simple – you need cash. In total, you’ll need about 50.000g to fulfill the Fish Tank, provided you follow our guide and make sure you don’t miss out on any fish.
Note that, it’s possible to find both of these fish at the Traveling Cart, although this is not a guarnatee. Visit the Cart in the Cindersap Forest each Friday and Sunday and check their wares. If you find either of these fish, you could be saving yourself thousands of gold.
Catching The Sandfish
In order to catch the Sandfish, you’ll need to first complete the Vault Bundle. This bundle requires you to raise a total of 42.500g and donate it to the Community Center. After you’ve donated all of the funds, wait one night and you’ll be able to travel to and from the Desert by way of bus. One ticket costs 500g.
In other words, you’ll need 43.000g to get to the Calico Desert and catch the Sandfish.
Catching The Woodskip
In order to catch the Woodskip, you’ll need to first reach the Secret Woods. This area is located to the Northwest of the Cindersap Forest, but is blocked by a Large Log. In order to cut it down, you’ll need a Steel Axe or better.
You start the game with a standard Axe, which you can upgrade to a better version using metal bars and money. Visit the Blacksmith to do this. You’ll need to upgrade your standard Axe to a Copper Axe, and then your Copper Axe to a Steel Axe in order to chop that Log down. It takes two days to upgrade your tool, during which period you won’t have that tool in your inventory at all.
In total, you’ll need to spend four days waiting for Clint to work his magic, 7.000g, five Copper Bars, and Five Iron Bars, to get your Steel Axe ready.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I missed a Fish! What Can I do?
If this happens, there are a couple things you can do. Many fish are availalbe in more than one Season, so consult our tables above to make sure you can’t just catch it later in the year. Otherwise, you can wait a full year until you’re back in the Season when the fish is active.
There’s also a chance you can find the fish for sale at the Traveling Cart in the Cindersap Forest. These fish will be quite overpriced, but it’ll be worth it if it gets you the Fish Tank completed quickly.
2. Do I need High Fishing Skill To Complete The Fish Tank?
You don’t need to catch any legendary fish to fulfill the Fish Tank, but some of the fish you have to catch can be quite difficult. It’ll be a lot easier for you if you do have a higher fishing skill. Get better at the mini-game if you want to complete the bundles a lot faster!
3. Is Removing The Glittering Boulder Good?
Removing the Glitter Boulder gives you access to panning. While not the best way to get rich, panning can give you some unexpectedly good loot, and it’s worth having that in your back pocket.
4. I Accidentally Sold A Fish, What Can I do?
If you’ve sold a fish to Willy or Pierre, you can quickly buyback the fish without losing any money or time. They will often keep things you sell them for a few days so you can undo any mistakes.
If you’ve placed a fish into the Shipping Box, however, that fish can’t be retrieved. You can only retrieve the last thing you added to the box, and the rest are gone for good. However, you can always catch the fish again tomorrow!
5. What To Do With Non-Bundle Fish?
Got a Lava Eel or Octopus to spare? Fish are a great way to earn money, particularly in the early game. You can sell the fish or store them in a chest to use for crafting or quests. Willy and Demetrius will occassionaly ask for fish at the Buletin Board, which can earn you some extra gold and improve your friendship.
Furthermore, if you’re a real fishing afficiado, you can collect all of the fish in the game and earn yourself the Master Angler achievement!
