who is Alex?
Alex is one of the villagers of Pelican Town who lives by 1 River Road with his grandparents. He enjoys sports and the beach, and like any stereotypical jock, he isn’t sharp and occasionally comes across as a jerk for his macho demeanor. As you get to know him better, you’ll realize that his sad childhood might’ve brought on this type of behavior.
Additionally, this character has one of the best character development out of all the eligible bachelors in Stardew Valley. Once you get to know him, you might admire his confidence, affection for his dog, or physically fit appearance. Moreover, you’ll also see a more sensitive side of him as your relationship develops, especially when you marry him.
friendships and relationships
Alex’s beloved grandparents, Evelyn and George, raised him. Additionally, he shares a close bond with his mother, Clara, but harbors a deep hatred for his alcoholic and verbally abusive father. He further explains that he had to move in with his grandparents after his mother passed away 12 years ago.
Moreover, Alex has a dog named Dusty, who lives near the Saloon in the old dog pen. Its glowing red eyes are visible at night, but you’ll get to know him more once Alex or Pam introduces him. Dusty’s been with Alex for 12 years, which is why they share a close bond.
He also likes hanging out with Haley at her home. Since they meet up often, this suggests they’re close friends in the town. So, if you don’t ask Alex or Haley to dance in the Flower dance, they’ll ask each other out and dance together.
Schedule
Alex’s schedule changes depending on the season, but he regularly visits spots like the tree near his home and the dog pen. Additionally, he spends his Wednesdays at Haley and Emily’s house. heart Events
You must obtain a specific quantity of hearts to unlock the cutscenes from the heart events. Moreover, you must earn friendship points to gain more hearts to participate in these cutscenes with Alex:
No. Of Hearts | Events |
2 | If you visit him at the beach on a sunny summer day, you’ll witness him playing with his gridball. He’ll greet you and throw the gridball, but you’ll miss catching it. He’ll chuckle and say it was a nice try. After that, he’ll tell you he’s sure he’ll become the first professional gridball player from Stardew Valley. He then asks for your opinion on what his chances are. Then, you must decide between these two options for your response: •Tell him that you believe in him (It doesn’t affect your friendship) •Tell him that he’s really arrogant (It doesn’t affect your friendship) If you choose the first response, he’ll thank you for your support and say he’ll remember what you said. However, if you choose the second one, he’ll leave after replying that you’re just jealous of him. |
4 | You’ll see Alex standing next to the dog kennel if you walk through the town between 9 am and 4 pm. You’ll overhear him talking to the dog named Dusty about how they’ve been through a lot and him feeling misunderstood. After witnessing this, you come out from behind the Saloon, and he’ll ask if you heard what he was saying earlier. Your response will depend on which one of these you’ll choose. •You tell him that you heard everything (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •You tell him that you didn’t really hear him and ask him why (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) In any case, he’ll reveal that because of his dad, he had to move in with his grandparents. He adds that his father was an alcoholic who verbally abused him. Then, his father abandoned him following the abuse, while his ill mother died shortly after. Alex continues by saying that he shouldn’t think about it too much and doesn’t need any sympathy. After this, to lighten the atmosphere, he’ll offer you a chance to watch what Dusty would do for a barbecued steak. |
5 | If you visit Alex at his home, you’ll see him staring at the bookcase in his room. He’ll admit that he hasn’t read any of the books and express his feelings of worthlessness. He also worries that he won’t be able to achieve anything in life if he isn’t smart. There are three ways that you could reply to him: •Tell him that’s crazy because he’s a genius (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •Tell him that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses (+50 points.) •Tell him that his worthlessness sums it up (-50 points.) Nonetheless, he’ll decide that he can achieve anything with hard work and suggests that you should discuss philosophy over dinner. |
6 | If you go to Alex’s home, he’ll share his doubts about his ability to become a professional gridball player. After this, he’ll apologize for his rude and arrogant behavior, and acknowledge your loyalty despite it. You would respond by giving him some words of encouragement that’ll energize him before going back to his strength workouts. |
8 | If you head towards the beach on a sunny summer day or go to the Ginger Island resort, you’ll see Alex sitting on the beach crying. You’ll sit next to him on the sand, and he’ll tell you that 12 years ago, his mother passed away. Moreover, he adds that he regrets not thanking her for taking care of him and that his mother’s music box is the only thing he has left. After sharing his feelings, he’ll open the music box and play it for both of you. As you listen to the music, you catch a glimpse of Alex’s mother smilingly, holding the baby Alex in her arms. While the music is fading, he’ll ask you what you’re thinking Following the heartwarming scene, you have to choose between the following responses: •Tell him to honor his mother’s memory by always doing his best (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •Tell him that he shouldn’t dwell on the past (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •Tell him that you’ll always be for him if he feels lonely (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •Tell him to get over it because life is hard for everyone (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) On the first option, he’ll reply that he works hard to become a professional gridball athlete. The second option is a neutral response, and he won’t react to this. On the third option, his response will differ depending on your gender; if you’re female, he’ll thank you and add that you’re his best friend in the whole town. On the other hand, if you’re male, he’ll tell you that he’s glad you’re more sensitive than most guys. Lastly, despite being harsh, the fourth option won’t get a reply from him either. Once the both of you have calmed down, Alex will suggest that you two should return to the town. Then, he’ll anxiously request that you keep his crying a secret from anyone before you leave. You’ll laugh and walk away as he quickly runs after you. |
10 | Alex will write you a letter to have dinner with him at the Stardrop Saloon at nightfall. You must visit the Saloon between 7 and 10 pm and be seated in a reserved private room. Emily will bring your food while Gus entertains you two with the violin. Depending on your gender, he’ll declare his feelings for you differently. If you’re a female, he’ll confess that he’s been crushing on you ever since your first encounter but unlike his old crushes that are short-lived. His feelings for you have only gotten stronger. If you’re a male, he’ll admit that he’s drawn to you from the moment you first met. He’ll admit he tried to suppress his feelings for you at first. But in the end, he decided to listen to his heart. There are two ways you can respond to his declaration of love: •You tell him that you feel the same way about him (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) •You apologize and admit that you don’t feel the same way (It doesn’t affect your friendship.) If you pick the first one, Alex will be thrilled that you both finally confess your feelings and eat his steak happily. After this, when Dusty smells the food, he’ll come through the window drooling, making Alex laugh. However, if you choose the second one, he’ll get hurt and apologize for making you feel uneasy, which causes him to lose his appetite. |
Group 10 Heart Event | If you give a bouquet to every bachelor, you have ten hearts level while also being at their ten heart event while you’re single. When you enter the Stardrop Saloon, a cutscene for a group ten-heart event will begin. When Alex is the last bachelor, an immediate ten-heart event will inevitably occur. This cutscene will have a friendly game of pool if you have a Rabbit’s foot in your inventory. However, if you don’t have one, all of the bachelors will get mad at you for dating them simultaneously. After this, they’ll ignore you, reject gifts, and respond angrily for a week; they’ll forgive you afterward and talk to you normally again. This event only happens once per saved file. If you’re already married or have presented a Wilted Bouquet or Mermaid’s Pendant to one of them, this event won’t occur. |
14 | Leave the Farmhouse at Year 2+ on any day other than Sunday between 6 to 8:20 am with 5,000g on hand. When you do this, Alex will ask to borrow 5,000g from you for his ‘secret project’ and tell you that you’ll see it on Sunday. The next part of this event will occur upon entering the Saloon; you’ll see Alex, Kent, Shane, George, and Gus watching a Gridball game. As you enter, Alex will tell you that while his dream of becoming a professional gridball player may not have come true. Buying a TV with the guys is a wise investment since it’s a little step towards fulfilling his ambition. But, he’ll assure you he’s happy with his life with you right now. |
marriage
Once you’re married, Alex will move in with you, create his own space on your bedroom’s right, and add a workout area behind the farmhouse. Additionally, when he’s at your place the whole day, he’ll cook you some Hashbrowns, Omelets, or Pancakes. Furthermore, when it rains at night, he’ll make you a Baked Fish, Crispy Bass, Dish O’ The Sea, Fried Eel, or a Survival Burger.
