It’s not always easy to find it for a beginner, so we will explain everything you need to know about this dungeon in the Stardew Valley Skull Cavern guide.

Here are the most important aspects of finding and surviving in the Skull Cavern:

How to Find the Stardew Skull Cavern?

If you decide to go on a quest to find the dungeon, you will have to go to the Desert. The most important aspects of the location will be below in this Stardew Valley Skull Cavern guide.

Stardew Valley Desert

More specifically, you can find the Skull Cavern in the northwest of the Desert. Just keep in mind that this place will be locked in the beginning in the game. You will have to get the Skull Key to enter the Cavern.

We know how difficult it might be to get the key, but we will give you a big hint – go to the 120th floor of the mines.

Speaking of which, if you do decide to get yourself the Skull Key, there are a few things you should know. For example, you will have to face many enemies to succeed. Also, don’t forget to take some explosives with you. This will help to clear the way if needed, and it might even help to reveal some hidden ladders to go further into the mines. If you want to manage everything faster, just get your character some coffee! This will give you a speed boost and help you along the way.

Surviving in The Skull Cavern

There are a few things you should know that will help you to survive the Skull Cavern dungeon. Here are some of our favourite tips:

Food

When you go to the dungeon, you will need the right type of food.

Our suggestion would be to take food that have additional buffs. Meaning, you will get additional effects on your character that will help you to fight the enemies.

For example:

  • Crab cakes – eat these to improve your speed and defence
  • Cranberry sauce – this food gives you some mining buffs
  • Ginger ale – gives you the luck buff
  • Eggplant parmesan – gives you mining and defence buffs

Having the right weapons

We know that you already have some weapons and tools that you’re used to (speaking of which, don’t forget to upgrade your tools when you go on such quests), but you might want to pick up a few explosives to help you in the Stardew Skull Cavern.

For example, consider taking:

  • Cherry bomb
  • Bomb
  • Mega bomb

with you to defeat enemies that come your way.

Stardew Valley Skull Cavern Guide: Monsters

As you might imagine by now, there will be quite a few monsters in the Stardew Valley Skull Cavern.

Some of the most common include:

  • Lava bat
  • Mummy
  • Slime
  • Royal serpent
  • Armored bug

While some monsters will be rather easy to defeat, you should be prepared for a good fight against the mummies.

The only way to kill it is by throwing a bomb at the mummy. That’s just one of the reasons why some explosives can be very beneficial in such dungeons!

How to navigate in the skull cavern?

Now that you’re prepared to fight for your life in the Skull Cavern, it’s time to learn how to get around there.

Basically, you can go from one level to another by finding a ladder on each floor. You can also just jump down a shaft to make the process faster.

Keep in mind that you won’t find an elevator like in the Mines, so you won’t be able to save your process. Should you fail at fighting the monsters, you will end up in Harvey’s clinic. Everything will be alright, your character will just have less money after this (1000 gold coins less).
