Do you have some troubles when it comes to getting bait on a rod in Stardew Valley? Well, you’re not alone!
While not all players choose to use bait when fishing, it can have its benefits in some ways when you’re trying to catch all the fish you can.
This Stardew Valley guide will explain everything you need to know about getting bait on a fishing rod to improve the success of fishing.
Bait and Fishing Rods in Stardew Valley
There are four different options of fishing rods in Stardew Valley that you should know about:
Training Rod | 25 gold coins | Buy it from Willy’s Fish Shop |
Bamboo Pole | 500 gold coins | Buy it from Willy’s Fish Shop |
Fiberglass Pole | 1800 gold coins | Buy it from Willy’s Fish Shop |
Iridium Rod | 7500 gold coins | Buy it from Willy’s Fish Shop |
However, just two of them can be used with bait! Yes, we’re talking about the fiberglass rod and the iridium rod. Both of them will require you to have a slightly higher level of the fishing skill. Meaning, you will need level 2 for the fiberglass rod and level 6 for the iridium rod.
Once you reach that level, just go to Willy’s Fish Shop that is in the south of the map.
P.S the shop is closed on Saturdays, so let the owner rest on that day!
Why is Stardew Bait Useful?
The main thing you need to understand is that it’s not necessary to use bait on a rod in Stardew Valley! However, it does make the whole fishing process much easier.
Meaning, the fish will bite faster if the rod has some bait on it in Stardew Valley. Of course, there are a few variations of bait in this game that you might want to consider:
- Bait (regular)
- Magnet
- Wild bait
- Magic bait
The regular type of bait in Stardew Valley will just make the fish bite faster. It’s quite nice and very cheap to buy, so no wonder why many players love it.
The magnet is quite useful if you’re tracking to find some treasures when you’re fishing in the game. Just keep in mind that it does cost 1000 gold coins to get it and you can only get the recipe once you reach level 9 of fishing, so it’s a bit more complicated.
Meanwhile, wild bait is received from Linus that can help you catch two fish at once! It also decreases the amount of time it takes for a fish to bite the bait.
Lastly, the magic bait allows you to catch any type of fish. This might sound confusing, so let us explain. Basically, some fish can only be caught during a specific season or weather, and this bait eliminates that rule!
As you can see, any type of Stardew Valley bait can bring a lot of useful tricks. Fishing is already one of the most profitable skills in Stardew Valley, so it’s not surprising that players are trying to find ways to make it all even better.
