How to Divorce Someone in Stardew Valley

Sometimes love just doesn’t work out, and you need to get a divorce. This situation doesn’t happen just in real life, but also in Stardew Valley. Players might want a divorce for various reasons, but it’s not always clear how to achieve this or what happens after this process.

So, if you have been wondering whether you can get a divorce in this game, then yes. Let’s take a look at how it happens.

Getting a Divorce in Stardew Valley

If you thought that a Marriage is expensive, just wait until you hear how much a Divorce costs. If you want to divorce, this will cost you 50k Gold.

You will have to visit the Mayor’s Minor and find a small book which will give you the possibility to become a single farmer again. Of course, you can still change your mind until the end of the day. However, if you go forward with this,  your spouse will disappear the next morning and will officially become your ex.

Divorcing While Pregnant

There is one thing you should keep in mind if you were already planning a family. If the player is about to have a child soon, the kid will not be born after the Divorce.

Also, if you already have children but divorce your spouse, your kids might disappear (“turned into doves” if we are using nicer words) if you choose this option at the Witch’s Hut in exchange for a Prismatic Shard

P.S this doesn’t mean that you can’t have more children in the future.

What Happens After the Divorce in Stardew Valley

The main difference is that your ex-spouse moves out of your farm. Keep in mind that if you try to interact with this person, they might not be so friendly towards you after you’ve left them. Also, you might want to keep your gifts away or give them to other people because they won’t impress an ex-spouse.

Remarrying in Stardew Valley

If you’re a romantic person at heart, you might want to get married again. Let’s take a look at how this process works.

Remarrying Someone New

This part is quite simple. You can even divorce almost everyone and still get married again. However, your ex-spouses will not attend your other marriage ceremonies, so you might want to prepare for fewer guests if you’re hoping for a big celebration.

Remarrying The Same Person

This is where it gets a bit complicated. Some people just make the wrong decision and break up with a character if they still have a connection. What should you do in this situation?

Well, the best way to resolve this is by visiting the Witch’s Hut and paying 30k Gold to erase  your spouse’s memories. This way, they will not remember the bad things they feel towards you, and you can marry them again if this is what you want.

Also, it’s a nice way to stay friends after the divorce or improve the dialogues with an ex-spouse even if it’s a bit expensive.
