These 5 Spring Crops Will Make You Rich in Stardew Valley!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that Stardew Valley can be a complicated game. Deciding which crops to plant and when can be confusing for anyone, especially new players. Using this guide you will be able to turn your farm into a money-making machine in just one season! Today I will be sharing with you the top five Spring Crops to plant in Stardew Valley.

Spring Crops

Top 5 Spring Crops

5. Parsnips

Spring Crops - Parsnip

Taking the spot at number five for Best Spring crop is Parsinp! Every Stardew Valley Player has planted a Parsnip before, whether it be from mixed seeds or just from the starting care package that you receive on the 1st of Spring in Year 1. Either way, we all know that Parsnips are a quick and easy crop to manage for early-game profits. Getting Parsnips can’t be any simpler as not only do you start with 15 Parsnip seeds on day 1 but you can purchase them from Pierre at his shop for 20g each.

These speedy crops only take 4 days to grow and will sell for at least 35g netting you a profit of 15g per Parsnip. While this may not seem like a lot you can have up to 6 successful Parsnip harvests each Spring if you plant on the first of the month. That’s not even considering the fact that you can use Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, or Hyper Speed-Gro to increase the growth rate of the parsnip.

  • Speed-Gro will give up to 9 successful harvests. If you have Agriculturist as your profession and use Speed-Gro, you still only get up to 9 successful harvests.
  • Deluxe Speed-Gro will give you up to 9 harvests normally, but bumps up to 13 possible harvests with Agriculturist.
  • Hyper Speed-Gro will give you up to 12 successful harvests normally, while only bumping it up to 13 with Agriculturist.

The only downside to Parsnips is that they don’t regrow meaning that you have to keep buying more seeds in order to keep a consistent harvest. Overall Parsnips are a great starter crop that will earn you plenty of cash in the Spring and help you prepare for your Summer Season.

4. Potato (Slightly Better than Parsnips)

Potatoes are the slightly better version of Parsnips and for good reason. Similar to the parsnip, potato seeds can be bought from Pierre for 50g each. While this sounds like a lot, the price will be worth it in the end as potatoes can sell for a minimum of 80g and a max of 160g. Not only that but when fully grown, potatoes have a slight chance to produce more than one per harvest meaning that you can get even more profit just based on your daily luck alone.

If you decide to go with Potatoes as your crop of choice you will get a full 4 harvests out of them before the end of the season. Just like the Parsnip though this crop is a one-time harvest so you will have to stock up on seeds or use a seedmaker in order to optimize your farm.

  • Speed-Gro will give up to 5 successful harvests. If you have Agriculturist as your profession and use Speed-Gro, you can get up to 6 harvests.
  • Deluxe Speed-Gro will give you up to 6 harvests normally, but bumps up to 9 harvests with Agriculturist.
  • Hyper Speed-Gro will give you up to 6 harvests normally, but goes up to 9 harvests with Agriculturist.

3. Cauliflower (Remember Giant Crops)

Cauliflower is one of the most unique spring crops on this list as it’s able to do something that none of the other crops can. Cauliflower in Stardew can become a giant crop just like pumpkins in the fall and Melons in the Summer! By simply planting cauliflower in a 3×3 grid there is a 1% chance that it turns into a giant crop. Giant crops are great as they have a chance to drop 15-21 normal-quality crops.

While it’s amazing that this plant can grow so large, let’s look at what makes cauliflower a great choice on its own. For starters, even though cauliflower seeds are expensive going for 80g a piece, the profit is one of the best on this list as cauliflower sells for a minimum of 175g.

With a sell price so high and such a unique ability it’s easy to think that Cauliflower may be one of the best crops in the game, however, it has one major drawback. Cauliflower takes a whole 12 days to grow! That’s right, in the entire season of Spring, you will only manage to harvest your cauliflower twice. On top of that it doesn’t regrow so you will have to replant after harvesting as well. Don’t let that scare you though, cauliflower is still a great investment for your farm that’s really earned its place on this list.

  • Speed-Gro will give up to 2 successful harvests. If you have Agriculturist as your profession and use Speed-Gro, you can get up to 3 harvests.
  • Deluxe Speed-Gro will give you up to 3 harvests normally, and stays at 3 harvests even with Agriculturist.
  • Hyper Speed-Gro will give you up to 3 harvests normally, but goes up to 4 harvests with Agriculturist.

2. Coffee Bean

Most players tend to overlook Coffee as a viable Spring crop due to its low sell price of 15-30g, even though this is completely understandable it’s quite tragic because of the wasted potential this plant has. Coffee is an amazing Spring Crop in Stardew Valley as it’s relatively easy to obtain, quick to grow, and lasts through both the Spring and Summer seasons!

To obtain Coffee Beans you can either purchase them from the Traveling Merchant for 100-1,000g (2,500g if in “special stock”) or kill dust sprites as they have a 1% drop rate for coffee beans. Once you obtain a bean, all you have to do is plant it away. Although coffee takes 10 days to grow at first, its regrow time is where it really shines. Coffee only takes 2 days to regrow and produces 4 beans or more each harvest.

While this does not sound that interesting, you need to keep in mind that coffee beans are coffee seeds. This means that with only one coffee bean you can more than double your crops in a single harvest. Even though each bean only sells for 15-30g, you will be harvesting hundreds at once in no time at all. Coffee earned its spot on this list because of its longevity and unique ability to multiply itself quickly. Unlike the other crops coffee regrows quickly and produces tons of beans per harvest making it a perfect choice for your next spring crop.

  • Speed-Gro will give up to 10 successful harvests. If you have Agriculturist as your profession and use Speed-Gro, you can get up to 11 harvests.
  • Deluxe Speed-Gro will give you up to 11 harvests normally, and stays at 11 harvests even with Agriculturist.
  • Hyper Speed-Gro will give you up to 11 harvests normally, but goes up to 12 harvests with Agriculturist.

1. Strawberry

If you’ve been playing Stardew Valley for a while now, you already knew this was coming. Strawberries are a staple of spring in Stardew and by far the most profitable crop of the season. Unlike the other crops on this list, Strawberries can only be purchased from Piere at the Egg Festival on the 13th of Spring. Each seed will cost you a whopping 100g which is quite a lot to earn in only 13 days in the game, however, if you maximize your farm using the other crops on this list like Parsnips or potatoes you will have enough cash to buy a whole field of Strawberries!

Strawberries are great because they only take 8 days to grow and regrow every 4 days meaning that you can get 3 harvests after planting them in year 1 or 5 harvests if planted on the first of Spring in Year 2. While they can be purchased for 100g they sell for 120-240g depending on the quality. This is not the best profit on this list but it is the crop that sells for the most gold total meaning it will still make you a ton of cash quickly if you purchase enough strawberry seeds at the festival.

Strawberries made it to number one on this list because they are a classic choice for any Stardew player and they can be made into jam or wine making them a great choice for early or late-game players. Please keep in mind that this list is purely a suggestion, Stardew Valley is a game about expressing yourself and doing what you love. Plant any crop you want and you will still earn money, that’s the magic of this game you can never fail at farming. If anything in this article confused you please take a look at the chart below to help you understand these Spring Crops just a little bit better.

  • Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, Hyper Speed-Gro All only give 6 potential harvests with and without Agriculturist.
