Overview
Have you always wanted to catch a Legendary or get Iridium quality fishes so bad? Or maybe you want extra treasure and loot while reeling in? Teh’s Fishing Overhaul is the perfect mod for manipulating all things fish and deep-sea riches!
It has a beginner-friendly interface, customizable options and mechanics, and so much more!
Features
The following are what you can expect and experiment while using the Fishing Overhaul mod:
In-Game HUD Adjustment
See that new screen telling your chance of catching something in the waters? You can adjust it anywhere you wish! Simply go to HUD in the menu, and put numbers on the X and Y axis. You can fit it perfectly to the most comfortable angle with a couple of tries.
Fishes are Visible
No, it’s not in the water, but the minigame where fishes you’ll catch is revealed! This feature is one of the most brilliant in the mod as it tells you what to expect once you’re done reeling in.
Adjustable Catch and Drain Speed
Enclosing your catch in the fishing bar can be demanding the stronger and faster the type of fish. With the Fishing Overhaul mod, reeling them for a split second is possible, as long as you adjust the right mechanic. Do the same thing with the drain speed, and they’ll never escape even if it’s not on the bar!
But if you want to experience hell in the waters, maximize their chance of escaping by lowering the catch speed and increasing their drain speed. Can you fish one with that difficulty? I bet not.
Effortless Catch for Iridium Quality Fishes
To get Iridium quality fish, you need to boost your luck, fishing level and equip the correct tackle. You have to time it right in some cases, and the rest depend on skills. Have the same result without effort by adjusting the catch quality at the highest with this mod.
Adjustable Bite-Rate Chance
If you want all the valuables and zero junks, manipulating the bite-rate chance can help. You’ll know it’s pure fortune if your HUD tells you zero chance of fishing driftwood or broken glasses.
More Treasure Chests and Loot
As mentioned earlier, you can adjust how many treasures you can get, chances, and even what loot is inside.
Installing the Mod
For starting players who want to use mods for Stardew Valley, you’ll need SMAPI running. You can see instructions on this separate guide if you don’t know yet. However, if SMAPI is already installed on your computer, you’ll need these additional mods:
Paste the file on the “Mods” folder in your local files and extract.
Run the game, and once you’re on the Main Menu, you’ll see a small wheel on the bottom left screen. That’s where you’ll configure the mod first by assigning a key that opens it conveniently.
Optional Contents
If the core mod is not enough, there are two additional downloadable contents for you.
First is the Recatchable Legendaries, where you can fish for Angler, Crimson, and many more rare catches at least once a week. The second pack is more on tutorials where the owner demonstrates how to add fish, trash, and treasure to your gameplay.
Gameplay Experience
Since I never play Stardew Valley with mods, I’ll try to appreciate Teh’s Fishing Overhaul.
Overall, the mod is decent and brings excitement, especially when I’m playing the minigame. Imagine having the power to control what fish to catch, how often they’ll bite your fishing rod, and adjust the reeling speed. You can literally catch any Legendary fish in the game in a split second!
However, one bothersome issue is the possibility of catching rare fishes even though the “Extended Family” quest is active. It’s a similar case with mine on the Nexus Mods community, and I wish for the author’s response. Nonetheless, it’s a neat mod for Stardew players who enjoy the art of fishing.
Final Verdict
Is the Fishing Overhaul mod by Tehpers worth installing? Absolutely. Aside from being one of the fan-favorite mods, this masterpiece helps significantly on quests and collections fast. Although if you want to catch every fish, I recommend you do it the clean way.
On a technical note, I find minor bugs that don’t do much harm, but good news: the mod creator is responsive. If this guide helps you, go and download the mod and show the creator some love.
