What’s Up with stardew valley achievements not unlocking?
Once of the most popular mentions of this problem comes from Reddit where a player said that they haven’t played Stardew Valley for quite a while and then decided to return to their farm.
The player also finished the Monster Eradication goal during that time and did more things. However, these achievements stayed locked in the Steam collection. The player restarted the game, but, sadly, it didn’t change anything.
That’s when the player tried to edit the savefile (just like many others), running the game again, but that didn’t help with the situation at all.
That inspired many players to start looking for various solutions for the problem of Stardew Valley achievements not unlocking in Steam.

How to unlock stardew valley achievements?
Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be so complicated to fix this issue. Just follow the steps that are indicated below or bookmark this for later to ensure that your game will run smoothly.
Here is what you need to do:
The first thing that you will have to do is to locate your save file and create a backup! This file can be found at C:\Users\(Your Username)\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Saves. That’s where you should be able to find a folder with 2 files, your main save file (it should look something like User_123456789 or similar) and SaveGameInfo.
This is where you will want to open your main save file in Notepad++. If you don’t have this or a similar programme, download it.
When both files are opened in Notepad++, try to find “achievements” in the main save file (just click on Search –> Find… and type the word).
That’s when you should find the section of the XML code with 2 tags <achievements></achievements>.
Delete everything between these 2 tags and save this progress. This is very important. This is one of the most crucial steps, so note this down.
You will probably like this step as it’s quite easy.
Just run Stardew Valley and load up your game (fingers crossed, really). Sadly, you will have to complete the achievement again that was giving you so much trouble. That’s when it should appear in-game and on Steam. We understand that this might be annoying, but it will fix the glitch in the game.
After the problem is fixed and you can see that the achievement is unlocked in-game and in Steam, close the game and replace your save files with the backups you made. This is an extra step to ensure that everything is running smoothly and you won’t run into any more errors in the game (not just with the Stardew Valley achievements not unlocking, but also different type of Stardew launch errors).
