HOW TO GUIDE 2022 | Can You Have Kids in Stardew Valley?

You’ve finally got a good relationship in Stardew Valley! A lot of players wonder if you can have kids in Stardew Valley. There is a lot to learn about this topic, so make sure you’re paying attention during this article.

What are the Kids Like?

Kids are adorable in Stardew Valley! You are only allowed to have 2 kids in the game, and they will always be a boy and a girl. You read that right, unfortunately, you can’t have 2 kids that are the same gender. Furthermore, if you’re hoping that kids will grow into wonderful adults, that is not the case. Kids in Stardew Valley only grow up to the toddler stage. Therefore, even if you play the game for years, you’re still going to have toddlers. Well, at least they remain cute!

How do you Have Kids in Stardew Valley?

There is several criteria that you must meet before you are able to have a kid. Firstly, you will have to be married for at least 7 days. Secondly, you must have a 10 Heart event relationship with your partner. Thirdly, you will need to upgrade your farmhouse to have a nursery. Make sure there is a crib in your nursery!

Even if you meet this criteria, you can’t have a child straight away. There is only a 5% chance that you’re partner will ask you to have a baby when you go to bed. Consequently, you may have to wait for a long time if you’re unlucky. However, once you do get the chance, be sure to hit the “Yes” button straight away.

Now, if you’re wondering if you can watch the deed happen, don’t worry, you can’t. Once the night is over, you will have to wait 14 days. After the 14 days are up, a cute little baby will appear in your crib. Adorable!

If you want to have children in multiplayer mode, the process is almost the same. The only difference is, the farmhand will also have to say yes. After this, you will receive a baby in your crib after 14 days.

Can you Adopt Kids in Stardew Valley?

Yes, you can! If you are a same-sex couple, you will also be able to have children in the game. The process is very similar to having biological children. If you meet all the criteria to have a child, there will be a 5% chance of you being asked if you would like to adopt one. In the chance of this happening and you accepting, your partner will tell you that the adoption paperwork has been filed. After 14 days, the adoption agency will give you your child and you will be able to see it in your crib. You will receive a note when this happens.

How do you have a Second Kid in Stardew Valley?

To get a second child, you will need to pass 4 stages with your first child. Once those are complete, the same process of how you got your first child will occur.

The first stage might be pretty boring, you will go and interact with your child and it will remain sleeping.

However, the second stage is a lot more fun! You will be able to toss your child in the air – don’t worry you can’t drop them in the game. Doing this, you will improve the relationship level between you and your child.

Next, the cutest thing happens! You will notice your child crawling around and playing with toys. However, your child may bug and get stuck in the furniture, which is funny but not great.

Lastly, your child will become a toddler. In this stage, they will run around the house, just like ones in real-life. To increase your relationship with your child, you will simply need to right-click on them.

Friendship with Kids

Friendship with kids is very similar to friendship with villagers that you are not married to.

  • In stage 1, you can’t increase friendship with your child.
  • Their friendship will reach 250 points when they reach stage 2.
  • During stages 2-4 you can increase friendship by 20 points once per day through interacting with them. A balloon will appear on their head when doing so.
  • If you don’t interact with your child or stop doing so, the friendship level can decrease. However, if you have reached 10 hearts with your child, decay won’t occur.
  • Soup tasting at the Luau, The Bulletin Board Bundle and gifts won’t increase friendship levels with your child. (You can’t gift children.)
