There are different kinds of animals in Stardew Valley. Aside from the cows and fowl you’ll usually encounter when you start playing, wild creatures on land and at sea can also be seen in the game. You can also catch various deep-sea creatures.
One of which is the Blobfish, an odd-looking sea animal floating just above the ocean floor. In this guide, you’ll learn what makes this fish useful and what you’ll need to do if you want to catch it.

What is a Blobfish?
It’s one of the only two deep-sea fishes that have a Floater behavior, which means it tends to move upwards. Its difficulty level is at 75 and can be anywhere between eight and 26 inches.
You’ll benefit from its restoration effects if you consume it. The following table will show you a comparison of its effects depending on its quality.
Where to Catch a Blobfish?
There are two ways to catch a BF, as shown in the table below.

Using Magic Bait in the southwest corner of the beach will give you a 3.3% chance to catch a BF, while there’s a 6.8% chance with a Curiosity Lure. You’ll have a 10% chance to hook one in the submarine ride, but if you use a Curiosity Lure, it increases to 20%.
Place a BF in a Fish Pond and it’ll reproduce every four days. The initial capacity is just one fish, but you can increase it up to ten by completing four quests.
Complete the quests by fulfilling the item requests listed in this table.

BF produces beige roe when placed in the FIsh Pond starting at population nine. The following table shows its chances of production, including the chances of producing other items.

You can sell one BF for 500g, but this price increases with its quality. The Fisher Profession also increases its value by 25% and the Angler Profession increases it by 50%.
Its Roe can also be sold for 280g, which also increases with the Artisan Profession (+40%). You can also use this to make Aged Roe with the Preserves Jar. See the table below for the comparison of its selling prices.

You can use BF in the spool of the Sewing Machine to make a Blobfish Mask. You can also use it as a yellow dye at the dye pots.
