Stardew Valley Cat: How To Get a Pet?

Are you interested in adopting a Cat in Stardew Valley? Well, you’re in the right place! Let’s take a look at some of the questions you might have about owning such a pet in the game, how to take care of it, and much more!

Don’t worry, if you have been playing this game for a while, yes, there are mods for this too!

Can You Choose Your Cat?

If you know exactly what type of animal you want and pretty much already have some names in your mind, don’t be afraid, you are absolutely able to choose what cat you want at the beginning of the game. The cat or dog adoption process is based on what you had chosen when you were creating your profile. A few different breeds of animals are presented to you, and you can choose whichever one suits you best.

Taking Care of Your Cat in Stardew Valley

Of course, you’ll want to be the best owner ever. If you want to become good friends with your pet, don’t forget to give them some attention and pet them.

Also, your pet has a water bowl, so keep it full. Yet, if it’s a rainy day, the bowl will be filled automatically, so no worries!

How to Get a Cat (or Dog) in Stardew Valley

The main rule for adopting a cat is that you have earned 1k Gold in the game. Once you have that, Marnie will come over to your house with your cat on a sunny Wednesday or Friday morning in Spring. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you have to adopt it, but it’s a lovely opportunity, so why not?

However, keep in mind that you’ll have to wake up quite early on that day! If you want to see Marnie with your cat, go outside between 6 am and 9.30 am

Cat Blocking Your Door

You might expect that your pet will spend the majority of time sleeping in your bed, but that’s not true. Sometimes, players encounter a problem where a Cat is blocking the door, and they can’t exit a room. However, it’s said that if you just keep running into it for a while, the animal will move.

Can You Have More Cats and Dogs in Stardew Valley?

The answer is yes! It’s possible to have more pets if you use a game mod. This way, you can still choose from a few different breeds, so you have plenty of choices, and it’s also adorable that the pets stay in your house on rainy days.

Some of us just want to have both the cat and the dog, so it’s great to have this opportunity. Of course, don’t forget that in this case you’ll have to take care of more animals and spend more time with them. However, if that’s not a problem, definitely go for it!

Having a pet in Stardew Valley is an amazing experience, so definitely try to spend some time with your Cat in the game!
