This place is known as the one of the most difficult areas to gain access to in Stardew Valley, and for good reason. The prizes and rewards you’ll get after unlocking it is worth all the work, so keep on reading this guide to learn more about it.
What’s the Casino?
Stardew Valley has many smaller games within the game itself, one of which is the Casino located in the Calico Desert. To gamble and purchase items inside, you’ll need Qi coins, which you can acquire by exchanging gold. It operates from 9:00 AM to 11:50 PM every day.
The Casino is owned by Mr. Qi, who’s always in the room. Inside, just to his right, you’ll find the machine that exchanges gold for Qi coins at a rate of 1,000g for every 100 Qi coins. These can’t be converted back to gold. On the top-left, you’ll see a terminal that lists players’ statistics.
The games include BlackJack and CalicoJack tables, and slot machines. You can choose between the low stakes CalicoJack table (100 QC) and high stakes table (1,000 QC).
After winning QC, you can cash them in at the counter. The table below shows the prizes you can purchase.

Near the machine exchanging Qi coins, you’ll find a shady NPC who will offer to sell the Statue of Endless Fortune for 1,000,000g. You can place this statue on your farm and someday give you a gift including various bars and diamonds.
How to Find It?
To find the Casino, you’ll have to unlock the Desert region in Stardew Valley first. To do this, repair the Bus Stop. Once it’s repaired, you can then take a bus to the Desert between 10:10 AM and 5:00 PM every day for 500g.
You may also access the Desert just by using either the Warp Totem: Desert or the Desert Obelisk so you can teleport.
When you arrive at the Desert, head south to find Oasis. You’ll find the Casino through its back door. However, the Bouncer won’t let you through without completing the Mysterious Qi quest.
How to Unlock It?
Complete the Mysterious Mr. Qi quest, which will require you to find secret notes and fulfill the following tasks in order:
- Find a battery and place it inside a box on the side of the bus tunnel
- Put ten beets in Mayor Lewis’ fridge
- Go to the desert and look for the dragon in the sand
- Put a Solar Essence in the dragon’s mouth
- Go back home to check your woodpile
After completing all this, you’ll receive the club card, which allows you to now enter the casino.
