Description
A void salmon is a type of fish that is obtainable through Fishing. It is a deep red-colored fish and can range in size between 24 and 66 inches in length. Its fresh meat is jet black, but rapidly turns pink when exposed to air.
Though it’s not a Legendary Fish, void salmon are a later game fish because you can only catch it once you have access to the Witch’s Swamp.
Where to find a void salmon
To catch a void salmon, you can fish during any season, weather, and time just it has to be in the Witch’s Swamp. This location is completely underground and is only accessible after completing the “Dark Talisman” quest. The Swamp itself is underground and the entrance is located in the northeast corner of the railroad area of the map, near the Spa.
In this quest, the Wizard will ask you to retrieve an item from his ex-wife’s house but you’ll need a dark talisman to enter her abode. The steps from there are speaking with Krobus, then you can retrieve the talisman from the mutant bug lair, and then you can finally return to the Railroad cave with the talisman to gain access to the Swamp.
How to catch a void salmon
Since void salmon have an 80 difficulty score, it’s a good idea to maximize your chances of successfully reeling them in the first time around. To do this, you should use the Iridium fishing pole, bait, and trap bobbers.
Void salmon are also a little special when it comes to catching a gold star quality version. The trick is standing in the right spot when you fish for them. The best spot is close to the hut of the door of the witch’s hut. There look for the tile with red spots on it.
According to a recent Reddit post, you should cast as far out as possible. So, if you are tired of only catching normal void salmons, that’s an approach that should work very nicely!
