Description of the Glacierfish

The Glacierfish is a type of fish that is obtainable through Fishing. It is blue, with reddish-pink eyes and fins. Moreover, it is one of the five legendary fishes in Stardew Valley, so it can only be caught once per save file (or once per player in multiplayer).

The Glacierfish is mentioned in the lost book “Secrets of the Legendary Fish”. In this book, it’s said that this fish only appears in the winter, and can be caught near where the river meets the ocean.

Where To Find The Glacierfish

It can be found during winter on Arrowhead Island in the Cindersap Forest during all kinds of weather. To catch the Glacierfish, you must stand at one specific spot: the southernmost tip of Arrowhead Island.

If you use magic bait, you can catch it at any season.

Just the location alone is not enough, to catch the Glacierfish you must fish with the bobber at least 4 tiles away from land in every direction. The only exception to this rule is if it lands in bubbles, where it can be one tile closer to land.

How To Catch The Glacierfish

You’re required to have level 6 fishing before you can reel in the Glacierfish.

If you are in the right position on Arrowhead Island, during the correct season, there is a 50% chance of hooking the Glacierfish so it’s one of the easier legendary fishes to find. Still, if you want to maximize your chances of successfully reeling in the Glacierfish, you should use the Iridium fishing pole, bait, fishing buffs, and the trap bobber.

What can you do with The Glacierfish

This fish is not found in any bundles, or quests, and no villagers like getting it as a gift. Demetrius, Elliot, Leo, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Willy are all neutral to receiving the Glacierfish as a gift. Meanwhile, everyone else either dislikes it or hates it.

It can be crafted into three recipes: Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, and Sashimi. Though, all of these recipes can be crafted using any fish in the game; and both Sashimi and Maki Rolls sell for significantly less than the cost of just the actual fish.

The Glacierfish can be used as blue dye in the dye pots found inside Emily and Haley’s house.

It can be sold at a base price of 1000g, 1250g for the silver quality, and 1500g for the gold quality. The Glacierfish can be caught in the size range of 26-28 inches. When consumed, you will receive a boost of 25 energy, and 11 health.
