Description of the Angler

The angler is a type of fish that is obtainable through Fishing. It is a yellow fish with green fins and tail. Moreover, it is one of the five legendary fishes in Stardew Valley, so it can only be caught once per save file (or once per player in multiplayer).

The Angler is mentioned in the lost book “Secrets of the Legendary Fish.” In this book, it’s said that this fish has been spotted north of Pelican Town, where the river flows down from the mountains.

Where to find the Angler

The Angler can be found at the far north end of the river that runs down from the mountain, just east of Pelican Town. The player must be standing anywhere on or above the wooden bridge just north of JojaMart. You can cast your rod north or south, the requirement is just regarding your player location.

Catching this legendary fish doesn’t have a specific bobber requirement about how far it needs to be from shore or structures.

How To Catch The Angler

Before you are able to catch this legendary fish, you first must be at least fishing level three. Furthermore, the Angler must be caught during the Fall season during any kind of weather.

Though, if you use magic bait, you can catch it at any season.

If you are in the right position on the beach, during the correct season, there is only a 20% chance of hooking the Angler each cast, so it’s important to reel it in the first time around. To maximize your chances of successfully reeling in the Angler, you should use the Iridium fishing pole, bait, and the trap bobber.

What to do with The Angler

This fish is not used in any bundles, or quests, and no villagers like getting it as a gift. Demetrius, Elliot, Leo, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Willy are all neutral to receiving the Angler as a gift. Meanwhile, everyone else either dislikes it or hates it.

It can be crafted into three recipes: Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, and Sashimi. Though, all of these recipes can be crafted using any fish in the game; and both Sashimi and Maki Rolls sell for significantly less than the cost of just the actual fish.

It can be sold at a base price of 900g, 1125g for the silver quality, and 1350g for the gold quality. The Angler can be caught in the size range of 17-19 inches. When consumed, you will receive a boost of 25 energy, and 11 health.
