Stardew Valley Rancher Or Tiller: Which is better?

Stardew Valley is a heart-warming journey. On that journey, you will have to learn multiple skills to improve your life on the farm and the farm itself.

One of the essential skills you will have to master over time is farming. Planting, growing, and harvesting crops on your farm along with raising animals are all parts of farming. Therefore, you will have to learn all the tips and tricks to get the most out of each segment.

When you do learn, farming can be the most profitable skill in the game depending on the path you take.

Over the course of time, when you reach level 5, you’ll get to choose between two professions in Stardew Valley, Rancher or Tiller

Stardew Valley Level 5: Rancher Or Tiller

If you decide to become a Rancher, your animal products will be worth 20% more. On the other hand, Tiller will make your crops worth 10% more.

It seems pretty easy to choose between these two, doesn’t it? If you are inclined towards the animal raising, pick rancher. If you want to take care of your crops, pick a tiller. However, this is far from an easy choice.

It is necessary to think long-term because that is where things become a bit trickier.

As you probably know, at level 10 you will get to pick between two more professions depending on your primary choice at level 5. Ironically, at this point, if you plan on raising animals, Rancher is far from the best option.

Instead, you can choose a profession that makes artisan goods worth 40% more

In fact, almost all end animal products are finished goods. Therefore, if you want to raise animals you should pick Tiller to maximize your profit in the latter stages of the Stardew Valley.

Finally, it is easy math, 40% is way better than the 20% bonus from Rancher.

Skill bonuses and professions do not stack. Stardew Valley will choose the highest bonus when selling items. Therefore, for maximum profit, make sure that at least one player picks Rancher while the other picks the Tiller profession.

However, always make sure that the professions you choose correspond with your personal preferences towards professions. Because, if you only play for profit, everything can go to waste. Stardew Valley should be a fun ride, not an obligation or a rat race.

Never forget to enjoy, whether single-player or multi-player game mode.
